Get festive with Pinterest

It is the end of November and with Christmas right around the corner the annual brainstorm for the perfect present begins. Thanks to the wonders of Pinterest, this year there’s no excuse not to up your yuletide game.

For those of you who have not yet used it, Pinterest is a photo sharing website. Users can upload, save, sort, and manage images (Pins) through collections known as Pinboards, keeping them private or publishing them for the world to see. It’s the perfect way to research ideas for anything from stocking fillers to table decorations, helping you make this Christmas your most imaginative yet.

One of the most useful functions Pinterest has to offer is the Guided Search option. It makes browsing the site easier than ever, helping to narrow down areas you are interested in – perfect for brainstorming when you are not sure exactly what you are after.

To use the Guided Search simply type into the search box, the guides will pop up below offering you a selection of additional filters. Clicking on a guide will automatically add it to your original criteria giving you a more specific range of images to choose from. To delete a guide, simply click on the X next to the word in the search box.

Be sure to back up Windows

In an age dominated by the wonders of technology the importance of protecting yourself against software malfunctions has never been greater. Although newer, faster systems offer us a plethora of undeniable benefits, with great growth comes inevitable hiccups. So how do you guard against the risk of data loss? With the release of the new Windows 10 upgrade we wanted to offer a few top tips in protecting and preserving your data.

First things first, if you have never backed up your computer, the time is now! To set up, first click on the Start button, click Control Panel, then Systems and Maintenance and finally Backup and Restore. You should now select Setup Backup and follow the steps provided in the wizard.

You can find further instructions on how to use the Windows Backup on the Microsoft website, alternatively the team at our Sompting shop are always on hand to offer technical advice and assistance.

Experts recommend you backup to a different location to that which Windows is installed - the best way to achieve this is with an External Hard Drive Disk. HDD’s connect to your computer using either USB port or Firewire connections. They are a fantastic way to upgrade your storage capacity and ensure your hard work is always protected. With the enormous quantity of off the shelf storage drives available, it may be a little daunting to choose one. Our technical advisors are more than happy to listen to your requirements and recommend the best product for your needs.
