The importance of technology in the classroom

Technology has been a gradually increasing presence in life and also at schools. Not only do nearly all jobs now require excellent computer literacy, our day to day lives also feature technology heavily, from buying tickets for the train to paying for your lunch, it is vital we are all computer literate.

Technology in the classroom is not only an important way of improving education with a multi faceted approach, it is also vital young people understand these skills in order to survive in the world of work. Fields such as science, mathematics, writing and history all benefit enormously from access to the Internet. It is an important tool for research and analysis but also provides another platform from which to stimulate learning.

We work in partnership with Exa Education to provide fast, reliable broadband to hundreds of schools in the Sussex and Hampshire areas and beyond. We tailor each package to the individual needs of the school meaning our service is usually cheaper and more effective than other providers who have a one-size-fits-all kind of approach.

Despite the many benefits, schools can be at risk of becoming victims of the more sinister side of the online world. To ensure that they get the best from the Internet, all of our JSPC schools can benefit from a range of safety procedures, put in place to monitor online activity and draw attention to potential problems before they become damaging. It is not only threat from external sources which is a concern. In addition to providing content filtering systems which guard against inappropriate content, working with our partners we can also monitor troubling activity helping to safeguard against cyber bullying, potential grooming and other unsavoury activities.

At JSPC we provide a complete service covering service, safety, software and support. So you can relax safe in the knowledge your ICT support is completely taken care of.

Cyber Security Awareness Month

October is Cyber Security Awareness Month! Raising awareness for Internet security including data protection, awareness of online scams and the importance of making the Internet a safe place for all. Throughout October we will be passing on our knowledge of best practise for Internet safety at home, in school and at work.

Online safety is at the centre of everything we do at JSPC. We know the huge benefits the Internet offers, but also the risks which come from an increasingly online world. We pride ourselves on taking every step we can to help educate and protect our schools and business customers from the darker side of the Internet.

At JSPC we know that a multi platform approach is the best way to tackle online safety and security. We work closely with educational companies such as Safety Net who provide tailored courses for schools and individuals ranging from students and teachers to parents wanting to know how to safely get the best out of the Internet at home. In addition to this we also work with E-Safe Education offering various safeguarding e-safety tools such as content monitoring systems, content filtering systems and behaviour analysis so that inappropriate content or behaviour can be flagged up as soon as it occurs.

The Internet is a fantastic tool and a vital part of life and learning. Awareness months such as this are so valuable as they place the emphasis on educating people. With education and the right protection we can help make the Internet a safer place for ourselves and generations to come.
