Internet Safety Day 2021

Internet Safety Day on the 9th February is an important date in the calendar for us at JSPC and the many schools we work with. The day started back in 2004 and has since grown to be celebrated in approximately 170 countries worldwide.

From digital identity through to cyber bullying, Internet Safety Day aims to raise awareness of emerging online issues and current concerns. With the majority of children home-schooling due to the pandemic, safeguarding students online has become more of a priority than ever before.

This year’s campaign theme is reliability online. Below are some useful educational resources for ages 3-7 and 7 -11 year olds, which have been designed to support teachers. They also include remote learning resources.

On the 17th January, we held a free webinar with key expert speakers offering advice and support on online safety to help schools, staff and students navigate these uncertain times.

Guests included David Mitchell, Freelance Educational Consultant at Deputy Mitchell talking about interacting safely with students remotely using Jotcast and Padlet. Tom Newling from SchoolsWorks MAT talked about safety and security with Google Classroom Admin and Chris White, Detective Inspector and Head of Cyber and Innovation at South East Cyber Resilience Centre gave discussed police cyber security for schools.
